M 2011 Idaho General Election
Amber Copeland
A candidate for Council Seat 5, City of Coeur d'Alene in the 2011 Idaho General Election
City: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Occupation: Taxi dispatcher
On this race: Copeland, 30, grew up on a farm in Bonners Ferry, always encouraged to voice her opinion and respect everyone else’s. Running her campaign largely on Facebook, Copeland said she would like to see an urban renewal district on East Sherman Avenue to fix up the city’s rundown eastern gateway. She said urban renewal is a little backward right now. “We should be working on fixing what needs to be fixed, then improving what’s already good.” She supports the education corridor and wants to create year-round events for college students. She’d like the council to have a once-monthly town hall meeting to allow people to fully speak their minds. Copeland believes the council is lacking by not having a person from her age demographic to provide a different perspective. A single mother of four girls, she said “I’m one of those people that sees the possibility of anything. If it hasn’t been proven to me to be false, I believe it could be possible.”
