M 2011 Idaho General Election

Barry Rubin

A candidate for Council Seat 5, City of Post Falls in the 2011 Idaho General Election

City: Post Falls, Idaho

Occupation: Retired

On this race: In this first run for public office, Rubin, 60, said he’s attended council meetings for four years and spoken out on issues including residential development and fiscal matters. He said he can provide a “different level of sophistication and analysis.” He said the council needs to make some basic decisions about spending priorities. “So far nobody on the council has stepped up and said, ‘These are our priorities.’” He wants to bring “realism” to budgeting, attract more businesses to Post Falls, ensure an appropriately trained workforce and increase the commercial tax base over residential. He said the current council approves housing developments without taking into account the surplus of vacant single-family homes. “They’re going the wrong way.”
