On this race: Lowery, 53, said the city has halted growth because of its building fees and said as mayor, she will find a way to reduce them. She wants to promote responsive government and thinks the City Council needs to be more directly involved in hiring key city officials. She also wants to actively promote the city to have its own identity, not just be a bedroom community. “Anything that happens regionally, Hayden needs to have a seat at the committee.” Lowery presides over Hayden’s chamber of commerce and the North Idaho Housing Coalition, and manages a department of 70 people at the Kroc Center.
