Jayson Cornwell, 28, is a 10-year military veteran serving in the Air National Guard. He also is a corrections officer for Spokane County Detention Services. Cornwell is calling for more economic development in Post Falls. "This ties to everything that the local government has the opportunity to do," he said. "I do not believe in raising taxes; if we need more money, it should come from new business coming into Post Falls, not increasing taxes." He said he'll encourage streamlining the paperwork to bring in new businesses. "When a business is prospectively looking at bringing a business to Post Falls, it should be a one stop shop," he said. Cornwell also wants the city to be on the cutting edge of technology in communicating with citizens; more training for police; safer crosswalks; potholes filled; and better street and parks lighting.
