New ‘Peanuts’ special rewrites Franklin’s origin story to address racist past

More than 50 years after being introduced, the first Black “Peanuts” character will get his proper due in a new streaming special on Apple TV+. Premiering Feb. 16, “Snoopy Presents: Welcome Home, Franklin” will explore the origin story of beloved character Franklin Armstrong, who was first introduced to prime-time viewers in 1973’s “A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving.”

Dear Annie: Other solutions to a potential stalker

Dear Annie: Your answer to “Tired of Being Scared at Work and at Home” didn’t address the possibility that her co-worker may be on the autism spectrum and thus be unaware of the inappropriateness of his actions, such as standing too close and staring. She should contact the company’s HR department, so his behavior can be noted and corrected. He may be a scary creep, but I think it will be easier for her to discuss this with HR if she questions whether he is exhibiting behavior of a neurodivergent condition. Either way, it needs to stop. I do sympathize with her fears. Young women are often the target of unwanted attention. Best wishes to her. – Another Possible Interpretation

Ask the doctors: Several treatments available for noseblleds

Dear Doctors: I am a 76-year-old woman not prone to nosebleeds. However, I recently started having heavy ones. Thrombin spray helped, but only for a week. A CT scan was normal. What can be done? A friend with nosebleeds had his nose cauterized. Might that be helpful for me?

The prestigious Pacific Northwest Ballet makes its debut Friday and Saturday at the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center. The Pacific Northwest Ballet, which has toured Europe, Australia, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Canada, will perform Kent Stowell's "White and Black Swan Pas de Deux from "Swan Lake," Jessica Lang's "The Calling," Jiri Kylian's "Petite Mort" and Twyla Tharp's "Sweet Fields."
