Teach a kid to fish…

About 95 volunteers from Spokane-area sportsmen’s groups treated around 900 youngsters to the thrill of fishing on Saturday during the annual Kids Fishing event at Clear Lake. The kids get a chance to catch three hatchery fish with a fishing rod they get to take home afterward. Some kept their catch to take home for dinner, while others donated a total of more than 250 pounds of fish, which a few sportsmen cleaned, iced and delivered to charity kitchens. Also this week, members of the Inland Northwest Wildlife Council launched boats for an annual fishing day they share on West Medical Lake with teens from area high schools.
