Ray Garland, Spokane's last Pearl Harbor survivor, dies
For many years, Ray Garland, who died Thursday, April 18, 2019 at the age of 96, has been a proud member of the Lilac City Chapter of Pearl Harbor Survivors and attended many events to remember the attack of Dec. 7, 1941. At one time the chapter had 125 active members from all over the Inland Empire.

Ray Garland of Coeur d'Alene survived the Pearl Harbor attack aboard a ship moored next to the USS Arizona. A few years later, he survived the battle of the Chosin Reservoir in Korea.
