A silver platter with the inscription “In Memory of Emma Foster/ September, 1961” at Spokane Fire Department Station No. 4 on Feb. 5, 2019. Other items also had inscriptions, including a similar “in memory” inscription to a Mrs. Grace F. Kimball, a “happy anniversary” piece and a chalice that was labeled with local artist Dorothy Fowler’s name and phone number from 1976.

A ceramic chalice from the ‘70s with a label attributed to local artist Dorothy Fowler is seen on Feb. 5, 2019 at Spokane Fire Department Station No. 4. It is said that Dorothy Fowler first learned ceramics at the YWCA, where the pieces were recently recovered from a safe. Fowler created the “Fallen Astronaut Hero” sculpture, which was dedicated in 2005, that is located downtown near the First Interstate Center for the Arts.
