Colin Mulvany: Favorite photos of 2018

Photography is my second language. It speaks to me in visual whispers every time I raise my camera to my eye. Moments, fleeting or not, are what inspire me to capture a snippet of my community each day. Whether it be a raging wildfire, a key play at a sporting event, or beautiful lit portrait of someone in my community, I thrive on finding the photographic moments that happen all around me.

The Downtown Spokane Partnership is surveying downtown business owners to gauge whether they're interested in installing more cameras and lighting. The effort would help police in solving petty property crimes, like larceny at bike racks, vandalism and loitering. John Waite, the owner of Merlyn's Comics and Games on Main Street and Auntie's Book Store, said he would support the initiative and would be interested in installing more outside of both businesses.
