Former Tennessee and WNBA star Chamique Holdsclaw wants people suffering from depression to realize they’re not alone. Holdsclaw (pictured right) returned to her alma mater Wednesday to discuss her fight with clinical depression. “You’ve got to tell yourself that just because you might feel blue or lost or alone, you don’t need to feel ashamed on top of that, because then you won’t get help,” Holdsclaw said. “There’s life after your darkest moment. I know. I’m standing here telling you I know because I’ve been there and back.” Holdsclaw recounted how she attempted suicide in 2006 as a member of the Los Angeles Sparks by overdosing on the medication she was taking for clinical depression.
