TRUESDELL, Warren Rodney
(Age 81)

Passed away at the Pine Wood Assisted Care Facility, in Coeur d' Alene on June 25, 2008 in the company of a dear friend, Oliver White, and under the extraordinary care of the facility and Hospice of Coeur D' Alene. Warren was born in Wallace on May 24, 1927 to Rodney and Hannah Truesdell of Mullan, ID. His youth was spent working in the family grocery store along with both of his competing grandmother's boarding houses for miners in Mullan, ID. He was an avid snow skier and raced in his youth. Graduating Mullan High School, Warren joined the Navy and was a Veteran of WWII. His field of operation was the Seas around Japan on a bomb sweeper. After his honorable discharge, Warren attended the University of Idaho, where he met and married the former Joyce McNally of Bonners Ferry with whom had three children: Eric, Lynn and Mark. He went into the Independent Insurance business as a partner with Howard Monks in 1950. He was later to become sole proprietor becoming Truesdell Insurance Agency, which operated in downtown Bonners Ferry for approximately 30 years, and he was also a bale bondsman. Warren was active in city government and services, including the position of county treasurer. He was a member of the Bonners Ferry Chamber of Commerce, the B.P.O.E. of Wallace, the American Legion, Masonic Order of Bonners Ferry, served on the local translator board for many years, and was a patron of, and volunteer for, the local Bonners Ferry Fire Department. He was also a partner of a local concern that originally built and owned the Kootenai Bowling Lanes in Bonners Ferry. For years he was an avid hunter, fisherman, and golfer. His real passion was his affiliation with the Masonic temple, taking rights to become a Shriner in the El Calam Temple. His work for the Shriners, and placement of children in the hospital is an on-going gift for many families. He took further training in Shriner work to become a Shriner Klown and
adopted the name Twinkle. He was self taught and proud to play the Shriner parade pipe organ in full clown costume. In his retirement, living in Hayden, he worked as a greens keeper at the Hayden Lake Country Club. He was also involved for years in antique car shows and parades with his 36 Chevy Coup. Warren liked to be on the road making daily trips visiting friends with his partner Dorothy Schmidt of Hayden at his side. He also spent hours writing notes and calling friends, staying in constant contact. Warren also helped many people deal with alcoholism, as he himself remained clean and sober for the last 27 years of his life. Warren is preceded in death by his mother and father; brother Ken; sisters-in-law, Kacy and Marie; daughter Lynn; and son Eric. He is survived by his partner Dorothy Schmidt of Hayden; close friend and guardian R.
