May Arkwright Hutton, and her husband, Levi Hutton, made their fortune in Silver Valley mining at the turn of the 20th century. May Hutton became renowned in Spokane as a supporter of labor unions and women's causes and was one of the prime movers behind the effort to get the vote for women in Washington state in 1910.
