After more than nine months of training and preparing, five climbers of a six-member team from Spokane successfully summited the highest point in North America. The team, called Spokane Mountaineers Denali 2009, reached the 20,320-foot high summit of Mount McKinley in Denali National Park, Alaska, on June 9, under beautiful skies. The members, pictured left to right, are Roland Lamarche, Dave Gilbert, Mark Russell, Bryson Williams, Ken Billing and Dan Coslic. Coslic was not able to reach the summit because of a stress fracture to his left fibula. Photo courtesy of Nikki Russell
