Spokane’s Montgomery Ward store opened in November 1929 at Post Street and Spokane Falls Boulevard, two months after this picture was taken. At least 55,000 people were said to have visited the store in its first two days. When Wards moved to Franklin Park Mall 50 years later, the city of Spokane purchased and remodeled the building, making it City Hall.
