Spokane Police dog Var was treated for gunshot wounds to his head and leg this week after being shot March 17 while in pursuit of a suspected car thief. The Spokane County Sheriff's Office says suspect Johnnie L. Longest shot Var while a Spokane Police officer was trying to apprehend him. Two Spokane Police officers then shot and killed Longest.
