Gayle Green and Ben Simpson, and other Otis Orchards residents, are fighting mad about a new power line that Avista is planning to string across the Spokane River to Liberty Lake at the intersection of Simpson Road and River Road. Green, who lives just up Simpson Road, helped hand out 2,000 fliers encouraging people to show up for the Tuesday night meeting. Simpson, a retired contractor, has lived at the corner of Simpson and River Road since 1974. "I think they saw the name on my mailbox and named the road," he said.
