Teeing off: Jim Martinson, a retired U.S. Army sergeant who lost his legs in the Vietnam War, hits off of the first tee using a special vehicle at the American Lake Veterans Golf Course on Tuesday in Lakewood, Wash. The course recently celebrated the completion of a new rehabilitation and learning center, and planning is under way for an additional nine holes that will be designed by Jack Nicklaus.
