Williams Lake outside of Cheney offers a perfect spot for recreators and wildlife close to the city. The Washington Department of Ecology is preparing to step in and re-write portions of Spokane County''s shoreline master plan, which govern 750 miles of shoreline along local rivers, lakes and streams. The state says Williams Lake exemplifies a Spokane county lake with extensive shorelines and associated wetlands of outstanding ecological integrity, despite development along some areas.
