Overdue reunion: Freed by rebels Tuesday, Sgt. Pablo Moncayo removes chains from the wrists of his father Gustavo Moncayo in Florencia, Colombia. The Colombian soldier, held hostage for more than 12 years, was freed by the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia, or the FARC, and reunited with his family, ending an ordeal that prompted his father to hike halfway across the country wearing a symbolic chain to press for his son’s release. He was 19 when taken captive during an attack on Dec. 21, 1997.
