In this 1935 recipe for Cooked Goose homemakers in the Dorothy Dean department suggested letting the bird sit out overnight in a cool room before cooking it. Unless serving up a side of food poisoning to your holiday guests is a goal, don’t try it.

Time has not been kind to every recipe in the Dorothy Dean collection. We came across some that are dated, dangerous and, well, disgusting by today’s standards.
