Sounds of the strings: Grant Elementary School sixth-grader Jared Arias found a place to hang his winter cap on his bass during rehearsal for the Spokane Public Schools Elementary Fifth and Sixth Grade Band and Strings Spectacular on Tuesday at the Spokane Arena. Some 2,900 students had a midday practice for the evening event. Jared said it would be disrespectful to wear his hat inside the building.
