"I bought this lovely 36 horsepower 1958 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia coupe just after my 15th birthday, in 1972, for $300. I was not old enough to drive the car and to make do riding shotgun with my dad at the helm. I still own the car. It has endured two “restorations” at my hands, and is awaiting its third (now that I know what I’m doing). It has always been a source of great joy to me, and certainly burns less gas and is easier to park than, say, an Olds Vista Cruiser.
