The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife provides daily winter feedings to the elk that congregate at the Oak Creek Wildlife Area to keep them from having to migrate to lower elevations and neighboring farms to forage. It's a program designed to keep a historically uneasy peace between farmers and these big, majestic animals in the snow-dusted hills west of Yakima.
