A group gathers around the graves of William Smart and his family at Greenwood Memorial Terrace Saturday, June, 20, 2009 to honor Smart, whose daughter, Sonora Smart Todd, created a special day in honor of her father, a farmer and Civil War veteran in 1909. A year later, in 1910, the day was dubbed Father's Day, making Saturday the centennial of the first celebration of Sonora's special day for her father. , Next year, 2010, will be the centennial of the day first called Father's Day.
