Bowling team: Karen Johnson, of Spokane Valley, picks out a handcrafted pottery bowl that she purchased to support the Fourth Annual Empty Bowls Project to benefit American Childhood Cancer Organization Inland Northwest (formerly Candlelighters of the Inland Northwest). Jenny’s Café in Spokane Valley hosted the event. For $15, patrons could enjoy a meal of cheddar-broccoli or minestrone soup and keep the bowl. The bowls were donated by Professor Terry Gieber of Gonzaga University, his ceramics students and friends in service.
