Balance point: Kameryn Skillingstad, left, of Cheney Middle School; Heather Portue, of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy; Kathryn Liegert, of Coeur d’Alene Charter Academy; and Rebecca Bramel, home-schooled in Spokane Valley, work at the barre Monday during the 66th annual Musicfest Northwest at Gonzaga University. Some 1,000 students from first-grade through college are participating in the weeklong festival, which aims to encourage, develop and improve the performance of young musicians and dancers. Divisions include ballet, brass, flute, guitar, organ, piano, reeds, strings and vocals. The winners from each division will perform a free show in the Festival Highlights program, Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Bing Crosby Theater.
