87 percent vote to walk: Members of the Tacoma Education Association applaud at the start of a meeting to vote whether to strike at Mount Tahoma High School on Monday. TEA spokesman Rich Wood said 87 percent of the union’s total membership voted Monday to walk out. The union and the 28,000-student Tacoma School District failed to agree on a contract proposal Saturday. Issues include teacher pay, class size and seniority.
