921 acres of elk and moose wintering range overlooking Lake Pend Oreille were permanently secured for wildlife habitat and public access in a land-exchange signed Dec. 22 between Stimson Lumber Co. and the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation helped facilitate the deal.
