Filling in for the short term: Dino Rossi, right, a former state senator and candidate for governor and U.S. Senate, is sworn in Tuesday in Olympia to fill a state Senate seat in the 5th Legislative District. The seat opened when Sen. Cheryl Pflug resigned to accept an appointment to the Growth Management Hearings Board. Rossi will serve until the November general election. He can’t run for the seat because the boundary lines change for the new term.
