An unidentified gentleman poses with the newspaper in a photograph likely given out as a souvenir at the American Theatre in downtown Spokane, a theater in business under that name from 1910 to 1930. It was used as a playhouse, and as a venue for vaudeville and operettas. It later became the Post Street Theater.
