Winter wash-away: Jeff Towne, aquatic specialist for City of Spokane Parks and Recreation, drags a hose across the deep end of Witter Pool on Wednesday as he cleans away the winter debris. The pool holds 550,000 gallons of water. Preseason lap swimming begins May 14 at Witter from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., while the rest of the city pools will open June 18.
