Joyce Walker, the church secretary at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Spokane Valley, works in the church office Thursday. The congregation declined to merge with two other Luthern congregations last year. The church is without a permanent pastor but still hosts a preschool, regular events and services with part-time pastor Jaynan Clark.
