Rescue drill: At an abandoned nuclear power plant at Satsop Business Park in Elma, Wash., firefighters come out of a 12-foot-diameter tunnel during fire and rescue drills that included firefighters from Grays Harbor County, Ventura County, Calif., and New York City. The exercise is part of preparations for emergencies in the Highway 99 and light-rail tunnels under construction. The Seattle Times reported firefighters are testing new four-hour breathing gear as they find and drag bundles representing victims through smoke created by burning wooden pallets.
