Fighting a house fire: Spokane firefighters from Station 2 try to ax through the roof of an unoccupied house as the spray from a fire hose from inside the house blasts them at 554 E. Lacrosse Ave. in Spokane on Wednesday. The fire started in the yard’s tall, dry grass and spread around the house. Burning embers started the roof on fire. The cause is under investigation.
