Stocking up: Jade Helm, of the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, stocks 5,000 catchable-size rainbow trout in the West Medical Lake on Wednesday, to spice the action for anglers turning out on April 27, opening day of the fishing season on Washington’s lowland lakes that are managed for trout. The lake also holds larger carry-over fish from last year plus trout planted at smaller sizes so they can grow to pleasing sizes later in the year. Right: “Hope I don’t hit my toe!” said Roger Shepherd, as he works on nailing decking at a dock house on West Medical Lake on Wednesday.
