Getting into the tradition: Jennifer Platt, of Idaho, cracks up while having a kimono put on her by Ben Erickson during the annual Seattle Cherry Blossom & Japanese Cultural Festival on Friday, spread across the Seattle Center. The festival was founded 39 years ago in appreciation of 1,000 cherry trees gifted to Seattle by Prime Minister Takeo Miki on behalf of the Japanese government in commemoration of the nation’s bicentennial. Events continue through Sunday.
