Police league returns: Seventh- and eighth-grade participants in the the Spokane Police Activities League test their skills with a dribbling drill during the first gathering Thursday at Liberty Park in Spokane. Some 40 kids turned out to play basketball or disc golf and have lunch at the start of the league’s second season. Openings still remain for participants, who can sign up at www.SpokanePAL.org. Disc golf’s first session runs every Wednesday, 11 a.m.-2 p.m., for fifth through eighth grade. Another session of disc golf is every Thursday, 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., for third and fourth grades. Basketball is Thursdays 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. for fifth through eighth grades
