Bob Jones of Kettle Falls pauses to photograph the Iditarod Trail 20 miles south of the Bear Creek Shelter Cabin during his March 2014 snowmobile trek to follow the Alaska sled dog race during a year of skimpy snow conditions. The trail passes through a burn that scorched the area around 2000 from the Post River Slide for about 30 miles to a point not far south of Bison Camp.
