Akbosh sheep dogs, used as livestock guard dogs, are tended behind a 7-foot high orchard fence at a home near Ione. One of the intact male dogs climbed the fence and bred a female gray wolf in heat in February 2014. The wolf later was captured and spayed on March 9, 2014.
