First phase nearly complete: A worker uses a wheel to measure distance for electric cable to supply lighting along the Appleway Trail on Tuesday near University Road. The trail between University and Evergreen roads is beginning to take shape, with the first phase between University and Pines roads near completion. The trail is being built along the old Milwaukee Road rail right-of-way south of Sprague Avenue. The estimated cost of the first section is $1.4 million.
