Cupcakes, lemonade stand for a cause: Marana Lopez, 13, does her best to divert traffic off South Freya Street into Bellerive Lane for a South Hill neighborhood cupcake and lemonade sale Friday to benefit radio personality Ken Hopkins in Spokane. Hopkins, of 92.9 KZZU FM, was recently paralyzed in a bicycling accident. Friends and neighbors of Hopkins baked some 300 mini cupcakes and two dozen regular-size cupcakes to sell. A GoFundMe account for donations has been set up for Hopkins at gofundme.com/3b8zccyrc , along with the Bellerive Lane neighborhood hosting an ice cream social 6 p.m. on Aug. 11.
