The art of Dorothy Fowler

Noted Spokane sculptor Dorothy Fowler died Saturday at age 88. She was known for several prominent works around the region including the statue of astronaut Michael Anderson outside the INB Performing Arts Center.

Spokane sculptor Dorothy Fowler created this bronze memorial statue of astronaut Michael P. Anderson in the city’s Riverfront Park.

Fowler also was the creator and donor of the bust of Spokane arts maven Katherine Gellhorn, which can be found at the Modern Theater in Spokane, formerly Interplayers.

Dorothy Fowler was also a pilot. She is shown here with her late husband, Jack Fowler, in 1993, standing in front of the plane Fowler built for his wife.
