Wow, time flies. 2014 marks my second full year at The Spokesman-Review. From covering the largest wildfire in Washington state's history, to a roller coaster of a football season on the sidelines in Pullman and Cheney, 2014 didn't disappoint. Just like last last year, thanks first to The Spokesman-Review, for still placing high value on quality photojournalism and for letting me be a part of it. Thanks to the readers for taking the time to look, read, and think for themselves. Above all else though, thanks to the people I have photographed for letting me into their lives and trusting me to document them one frame at a time. I'm looking forward to 2015. CARLTON COMPLEX FIRE

Sparked on July 14, by a series of lightning strikes in the Methow Valley, the Carlton Complex fire eventually became the largest recorded wildfire in Washington State history. By July 17, the fire was burning structures in and around Pateros and Mallot, Wash. The fire rapidly slipped out of control, growing to 256,108 acres and destroying around 300 structures in Okanogan County.

A firefighter watches as a blaze approaches on Friday, June 18, 2014, in Malette, Wash. In mid-July, four lightning strikes started four fires in the Methow Valley. Within three days, the fires merged and turned into the largest wildfire in state history, burning more than 256,000 acres and costing the state $60 million to fight. Around 300 homes were destroyed, including most of the town of Pateros. Damage to livestock and agricultural land was devastating.
