Pearl Harbor Remembrance Ceremony

When Pearl Harbor was attacked, approximately 80,000 Americans were on duty there and at other military bases in Hawaii that also were bombed. Later, survivors of the infamous day formed a national Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and a Lilac City Chapter in Spokane one had 125 members. Only five local survivors remain, all in the 90s, and they hist a "Salute to the Fallen" every year. On Sunday, Dec. 7, 2014, they commemorate the 73rd anniversary to remind everyone "eternal vigilance is the price of liberty."
