Kate Mann, 18, of East Valley High School, plays the flute during her school’s practice performance outside Joe Albi Stadiun before the Sounds of Thunder marching band compeptition, Oct. 8, 2011 in Spokane, Wash. Mann fractured foot which prevented her from marching with the band but she was able to play from the near sidelines later in the morning during competiton. Their theme for the performance was “Heros” and they played music from Batman, Spiderman and Superman movies.
