  • 'Sunset from the South Meadow'. In this shot from last Tuesday 01-25-18, the summit of Mt. Spokane was encased in Fog so I descended down to the Kit Carson Loop Road to capture this start of sunset shot. All the trees were loaded with Snow from recent storms and provided nice Hoodoos for silhouette.

  • 'Telemarking to the Top of the World'. Okay so maybe not the top of the world but is to the Summit of nearby Mt. Spokane. Taken this past Tuesday 01-25-18 I was photographing nearby Snow ghosts or Hoodoos and could hear these two gentlemen coming up the South Meadow Corridor. Dark skies providing a dramatic backdrop that lasted only 30 seconds and then they were gone.

  • The sunset on Saturday was a mesmerizing spectacle of shifting shapes and colors. I captured this image while standing on High Drive. People were pulling off the road to view the scene.

  • On January 16th a small flock of red crossbills started visiting my feeders at my home on the south hill. Since then they have come several times a day to feed. The males are orange-red and the females are olive-gray and yellow. Their most interesting feature is the crossed bills. They feed on the seeds of conifer cones.

  • Two meteors intersect in the skies above Second Beach in Olympic National Park near La Push, WA. While the rest of the state of Washington brought in the New Year with snow and clouds I delayed my trip back to Spokane and headed to the Olympic Peninsula where I found a refuge of clear skies and unseasonably mild temperatures. In three days I hiked 20 miles, slept 10 hours, and marveled at the beauty of this region.

My bird bath, although heated was frozen so they ate snow and frozen berries from the tree.
