Your Outdoors Photos: June 2018

The Inland Northwest is full of flora, fauna, waters, scenery and active people out to savor it all. Please visit this gallery regularly to share photos of your wild experiences, learning moments, hot discoveries, favorite trips. Help us build a visual tour of what's so great about the outdoors in this region through all four seasons. This photo gallery will be an inspiration to some people. So many neat new to me birds along the rivers and marshes this year. This Spotted Sandpiper was having a good time in the boggy area left along the river when the water went back down. June, 2018 near the Centennial Trail, Maringo Trailhead.

The really neat thing about having a river running right through the towns is that everyone can use it. You don't have to travel to fish or enjoy it. This gentleman was taking advantage of that near Mirabeau Park in the Spokane Valley earlier this month.

On May 18 my wife Sandy and I discovered two Black-necked Stilt nests near Sprague Lake we began weekly visits to check on their progress. One of the nests failed but on the morning of June 10 I found 3 chicks and one egg Sandy and I returned that evening and found all four chicks were in the world.

This was a new bird to me this morning, seen in the flooded hay field near Marshall. It is an American Coot. There was a huge group enjoying the marshy water and I'm sure large amount of bugs.
