Your Pet Photos: National Dog Day

Every dog has its day - even more so on Aug. 26, which is National Dog Day. We'll celebrate by gathering photos of the best dogs in the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene area and showing them off to the world. While we won't be awarding Best in Show, we'll take our favorite reader-submitted canine candids and run them in print on the Today cover for National Dog Day.

Retired Mommas Nala and Jazzy riding in style to the Peacock (breeders) Shih Tzu First Annual July 2019 Puppy reunion. What else would you expect for a picnic but little gingham pinafores. Their mommy took the sewing machine camping to the Fam Camp at Hill AFB Ogden, Utah trip and made their outfits. They were the hit of the party in Sandy, UT, with around 45 Shih Tzu heirs and other mommies and puppies.

"Hey Mom that was funny...." April 2017. My boy "Plucky Lucky" as he is nicknamed mostly going by his given name Lucky is a very good listener. Being as his Mom works for herself as a Producer of Shows, Personal Shopper and Media Blogger Lucky often gets stuck with playing the part of a muse/confidant/critic. His smile is just the encouragement I need.

June 2017, "Taking time to smell the flowers" My plucky boy Lucky by the fence where he know the kids next door will soon be arriving home from school and it will be ball play time. They love my boy almost as much as I do and everyone who meets him does too, he is truly a bestl rescue with a special story to tell. :)

June 2017 Lucky King of the Dishman Hills. My mix Plucky Lucky of smooth coated collie and Foxhound loves to hike with his Mama. It is our time to refresh and renew!!! Hes a high energy very smart and well behaved dog whom I rescued and had only been a shelter dog to that date. He had extreme anxiety and was mouth aggressive. With lots of love, understanding and a firm but gentle hand he is the best dog ever according to my clients who love him to death!!

"Window seat thoughts" April 2017 My Plucky Lucky as he was nicknamed has been called "almost human and sentient" he is very smart, animated and out of all the dogs I have rescued is definitely the best looking. Lucky my foxhound smooth coated collie mix loves to sit on his window seat and "chat" with me. I have dozens of photos all equally as handsome in every one of them. I honestly have others that showcase the beauty of who he is out on his Dishman hikes that are spectacular, but his shows his intelligence.

Alice is a Harlequin Great Dane with the utmost quirky personality. She is a deaf dog, a special needs rescue from Double J Dog Ranch. While she cannot hear, she is certainly the talker. She chats or "sings" whenever I come into the room. She is the Velcro dog extraordinaire! She loves me and all of the other animals in my pack. I don't know what life would be like without her. This was taken when Alice was a youngster at Double J Dog Ranch and it is my favorite pic of her. She is now a 6-year-old, but still a puppy in every aspect.
