Dreams Come True
Friday was a special day for Amber Green. A St. Charles School volunteer who has Cerebral Palsy, Green has worked with students for eight years. She communicates using a speaking computer. She loves to read stories to the children and says morning prayer with help from her computer. Teacher Peggy McFarland says that having Green in her class has enriched the lives of the children. In the St. Charles gym, Green was honored with her first ever paycheck. The money comes from a “Quality of Life Grant” grant provided by the Christopher Reeves Foundation. “We believe that this unique grant provides Amber with real compensation for her work and breaks new ground for her and other with disabilities, ” said St. Charles principal Skip Bonuccelli. ” Each person has worth.”
