North Carolina police: No foul play in Charles Shackleford’s death

Police in North Carolina say there is no sign of foul play in the death of former NBA player Charles Shackleford. The 50-year-old Shackleford was found dead at his home in Kinston on Friday. The state medical examiner will determine the cause of death. The 6-foot-10 Shackleford averaged nearly 15 points and 8 rebounds per game for North Carolina State.

Dropped by the NFL, St. Louis and San Diego are among bidders from 12 areas applying four Major League Soccer expansion teams. Other to submit bids were groups from Charlotte, North Carolina; Cincinnati; Detroit; Indianapolis; Nashville, Tennessee; Phoenix; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Sacramento, California; San Antonio; and Tampa-St. Petersburg, Florida.
